Take the children and yourself
And hide out in the cellar
By now the fighting will be close at hand
Don’t believe the church and state
And everything they tell you
Believe in me, I’m with the high command

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

There’s a gun and ammunition
Just inside the doorway
Use it only in emergency
Better you should pray to God
The Father and the Spirit
Will guide you and protect from up here

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Swear allegiance to the flag
Whatever flag they offer
Never hint at what you really feel
Teach the children quietly
For some day sons and daughters
Will rise up and fight while we stood still

Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?
Can you hear me, can you hear me running?
Can you hear me running, can you hear me calling you?

Can you hear me running (can you hear me calling you?)
(Can you hear me) hear me calling you?
(Can you hear me running) hear me running babe?
(Can you hear me running) hear me running?
Calling you, calling you

(Rutherford/Neil)

I said “go if you wanna go,
Stay if you wanna stay”
I didn’t care if you hung around me
I didn’t care if you went away
And I know you were never right
I’ll admit I was never wrong
I could never make up my mind
I made it up as I went along

And though I treated you like a child
I’m gonna miss you for the rest of my life

All I need is a miracle, all I need is you
All I need is a miracle, all I need is you
All I need is a miracle, all I need is you

I never had any time
And I never had any call
But I went out of my way just to hurt you,
The one I shouldn’t hurt at all
I thought I was being cool
Yeah, I thought I was being strong
But it’s always the same old story
You never know what you’ve got ’til it’s gone

If I ever catch up with you
I’m gonna love you for the rest of your life

All I need is a miracle, all I need is you (all I need is a miracle)
All I need is a miracle, all I need is you (all I need is a miracle)
All I need is a miracle, all I need is you

And if I ever catch up with you
I’m gonna love you for the rest of your life

All I need is a miracle, all I need is you (all I need is a miracle)
All I need is a miracle, all I need is you (all I need is a miracle)
All I need is a miracle, all I need is you (all I need is a miracle)
All I need is a, all I need is a,
All I need is you (all I need is a miracle)

(Rutherford/Neil)

Another day has passed me by
And there’s an island in the sun
To see me through
Another day in paradise
But there’s no reason, there’s no rhyme
Without you

Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the dreaming of you
Breathing your love in me
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the feeling I’ve been
Waiting here for so long
I’ve been waiting here for so long

There’s a time and there’s a place
When we can share the silver night
Silent room
In my bed an empty space
Cos there’s no other in my life
Only you

Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the dreaming of you
Breathing your love in me
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the feeling I’ve been
Waiting here for so long
I’ve been waiting here for so long

Here comes the night
Here comes the dreaming of you
Breathing your love in me
Here comes the night (night)
Here comes the feeling I’ve been
Waiting here for so long
I’ve been waiting here for so long

(Rutherford/Robertson/Neil)

And through the grief and pain, I’m half insane
I give an inch you take a mile
You throw away the key, ignore my plea
You cut me down without a trial
(You keep me hanging by) hanging by a thread
(You keep me hanging by) leaving me for dead
(You keep me hanging by) I heard it when you said,
(You keep me hanging by) “Keep him hanging by a thread”

You throw a length of rope, I grab, you hope,
It’s just enough to hang myself
I make a fatal slip, I lose my grip
There’s no-one left to call for help

(You keep me hanging by) hanging by a thread
(You keep me hanging by) leaving me for dead
(You keep me hanging by) I’m not finished yet
(You keep me hanging by) I’m still hanging by a thread

I hear a final scream, another dream
I hear it then I start to go (hang him by a thread)
I recognise the pain, a time to play
Then stuck me to the afterglow (hang him by a thread)
Then I wake up wet, soaked in sweat
Tell you all you want to know (hang him by a thread)

(Rutherford/Neil)

I get the feeling, that I’ve been here before
Saying all these things to you
I get the feeling, that I fell through that door
Comin’ down with deja-vu
There’s no emotion, nothing at all
You don’t even know my name
I get the notion that you don’t recall
So here we go, and here we go
Here we go again

It’s no good saying, that you’ve never been in love before
No good explaining, that you’ve never been in love before
No good denying, I’ve seen them comin’ back for more
I know you’re lying, baby
Cos your name is written on that door

Oh, baby

I get the feeling, that you’ve been here before
Saying all these things to me
I get the feeling, that I’m just a chore
You don’t give your love for free
There’s no excuses, nothing to say
You just play those little games
I get the feeling it would turn out this way
So here we go, here we go
Here we go again

Your love has given me, what I never never had before
But the way you’re living, I just never never know the score
Oh, I’m though with trying, and I say I can take no more
You know I’m lying baby, when you hear me knocking at that door

Oh girl

I get the feeling, by the look on your face
Could be the right time, but it sure is the wrong place
I get the feeling that nothing I say
Is gonna change a single thing, gonna make you come away

Oh, I get the feeling
Oh, I get the feeling
Here we go again
Here we go again
Here we go
I get the feeling
Yeah get the feeling
No no no, tell me now now
Never been in love before
Don’t try tell me
Don’t try tell me about it
Never been in love before
I don’t believe it darling, no

(Rutherford/Robertson/Neil)

I’m a man, don’t you forget it, I’m not a little kid
Understand, you might regret it, treating me the way you did
Hey old man, shut your mouth and listen, this here’s the new regime
I command, you could go missin’, you could be off the scene

(I’m not here to pray) I’m not here to pray
(So papa don’t say) so papa don’t say, I’m not ready
Cos the hands feel so steady, take the reins

We got a team, we got the muscle, when things are getting tight
Will there seem, if there’s a hustle, money changes every fight?
Look at me, you will discover, I’m not my father’s son
You will see, when you recover, I’m mama’s only one

(Look straight in my eye) look me in the eye
(Try to deny) try to deny, I’m not ready
But these hands feel so sturdy, oh, take the reins

(Take the reins)

(I’m sure in your game) I know that in your game
(You were okay) you were okay, that’s behind us
Oh, Louise, is it vengeless?
Oh, take the reins

I’m a man, I’m not a little kid
Why, I understand
Shut your mouth and listen
Ah, and don’t work out a new regime
Yeah, I got a team
Yeah, take the reins
I’m mama’s only one
Ah, take the reins

(Rutherford/Neil)

Time from the man, who will live while he can, on his own
Pass by the dream, it’s movie you’ve seen once before
Tears in the rain, as you wave at the plane
As it climbs through the clouds, to the sun

You are the one, oh, you are the one
You make it all worthwhile, you make it all worthwhile
You are the one, oh, you are the one
You make it all worthwhile, you make it all worthwhile
I see your picture smiling back at me
But I’m afraid of the future, I’m afraid you won’t see

Look for the slave, is he trying to wave or to drown?
There at the start, he’ll be there when your heart touches down
Drawn to the pain, like a moth to a flame
As he climbs through the clouds, to the sun

You are the one, oh, you are the one
You make it all worthwhile, you make it all worthwhile
You are the one (you are the one)
Oh, you are the one (you’re the only one)
You make it all worthwhile (you make it all worthwhile)
You make it all worthwhile
I see your picture smiling back at me
But I’m afraid of the future, I’m afraid you won’t see

(Banks/Collins/Rutherford/Neil/Robertson)

Pass the word, it’s a call to arms
Midnight man at your door
Blackened faces run in the night
Daybreak under the floor

Bring my bow
Fill my head with flame, and we must
Let them know that the torch is lit again
Crystalize the pain behind your eyes
Are you ready to fight?

(You hear the drum and) run for your life
(Sweet Avalon the heat is on)
In other words, I hope and pray
That time and tide wash the hate away
A simple man with simple thoughts
Who turned to force as a last resort

All around us, chaos rings
Buildings crumbling down
Silhouettes in the fiery rain
Timbers crash to the ground

Bring my spear, invested with my youth
Bring the children near, they must now be told the truth
Old and young and those of foreign tongue
Are you ready to fight?

(You hear the drum and) run for your life
(Sweet Avalon the heat is on)
In other words, I hope and pray
That time and tide wash the hate away
A simple man with simple thoughts
Who turned to force as a last resort

In other words, I hope and pray
That time and tide keep the day away
When simple men with simple thoughts
Will turn to force as a last recourse

(Rutherford/Neil)

Taken in, taken in again
Wrapped around the finger of some fair-weather friend
Caught up in the promises, left out in the end
No pride, taken for a ride
You say I’m the only one when I look in your eyes
I want to believe you but you know how to lie

And if you say you understand I don’t believe it
And when you reach out for my hand I don’t believe it
And if you say you take the blame I don’t believe it
And if say that nothing’s changed I don’t believe it, don’t believe it

Taken in, taken in again
Someone saw me coming, a fool without a friend
There’s one born every minute and you’re looking at him

And if you say you want me near I don’t believe it
And when you’re holding back the tears I don’t believe it
And when you swear that you are mine I don’t believe it
And it’s your heart that’s on the line I don’t believe it, don’t believe
it

Taken in, taken in again
Wrapped around the finger of some fair-weather friend
Caught up in the promises, left out in the end
No pride, taken for a ride
You say I’m the only one when I look in your eyes
I’d love to believe you but you know how to lie

You say you want me near I don’t believe it
And when you’re holding back the tears I don’t believe it
Oh, there’s one born every minute, you’re looking at him

Taken in, taken in again
Someone saw me coming, a fool without a friend
I want to believe you, oh
When you say you understand
When you reach out for my hand
Oh, I wish I could believe you
Taken in, taken in again

La plus belle étant tout de même Long long way to go.

There’s this girl that’s been on my mind
All the time, Sussudio oh oh
Now she don’t even know my name
But I think she likes me just the same
Sussudio oh oh

Oh if she called me I’d be there
I’d come running anywhere
She’s all I need, all my life
I feel so good if I just say the word
Sussudio, just say the word
Oh Sussudio

Now I know that I’m too young
My love has just begun
Sussudio oh oh
Ooh give me a chance, give me a sign
I’ll show her anytime
Sussudio oh oh

Ah, I’ve just got to have her, have her now
I’ve got to get closer but I don’t know how
She makes me nervous and makes me scared
But I feel so good if I just say the word
Sussudio just say the word
Oh Sussudio, oh

Ah, she’s all I need all of my life
I feel so good if I just say the word
Sussudio I just say the word
Oh Sussudio I just say the word
Oh Sussudio I’ll say the word
Sussudio oh oh oh
Just say the word

(Collins/Stuermer)

We know you really only wanna hear
The things we like to say
But if I said to you please don’t do it
You do it anyway
Sometimes I know, we gotta be cruel
Be cruel to be kind
When I ask you, what you see in me
You say our love is blind

Cos only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say

Whenever I think I know you better
Better than I know myself
I open up and give you everything
Then you say, O.K. what else
And when I run away you always cry
You always over react
But I don’t know if you know how you really feel
But you better know before I get back

Cos only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say

Just try to remember
Now I’m the one you love
You told me, ooh try to remember
I’m the one you’re always thinking of
You told me, please try to remember
Before I walk away
Remember
It’s not good enough telling me the way it was yesterday

Cos only you know and I know
The things we mean to say
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say

Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say, yes
Only you know and I know
The things we mean to say

Only you know and I know…

(Collins)

While I sit here trying to think of things to say
Someone lies bleeding in a field somewhere
So it would seem we’ve still got a long long way to go
I’ve seen all I wanna see today

While I sit here trying to move you anyway I can
Someone’s son lies dead in a gutter somewhere
And it would seem that we’ve got a long long way to go
But I can’t take it anymore

Turn it off if you want to
Switch it off it will go away
Turn it off if you want to
Switch it off or look away

While I sit and we talk and talk and we talk some more
Someone’s loved one’s heart stops beating in a street somewhere
So it would seem we’ve still got a long long way to go, I know
I’ve heard all I wanna hear today

Turn it off if you want to (turn it off if you want to)
Switch it off it will go away (switch it off it will go away)
Turn it off if you want to (turn it off if you want to)
Switch it off or look away (switch it off or look away)

Switch it off
Turn it off

(Collins/Stuermer)

It’s over, oh yes it’s all over
And it’s been a long time coming
Some say it’s too long
She said it, and now she’ll regret it
But if she’d ask anyone
I know they’ll tell her to her face, that it’s too late

Cos I don’t wanna know
No, I don’t wanna know
She can cry all she wants
She’s not gonna bring me back, no no
I don’t wanna know
I don’t wanna know
She can try all she wants
It’s not gonna get me back, oh oh, no no

They warned me
Oh yes they all warned me
They told me, don’t lose your heart to her
She’ll never give it back, no no
Oh it’s too late
She made a big mistake
It wouldn’t be the first one anyway
Tell me how many more, no no no

No I don’t wanna know (what she said)
No I don’t wanna know (what she said)
She can cry all she wants
She’s not gonna bring me back, no no
I don’t wanna know (what she said)
No I don’t wanna know (what she said)
She can try all she wants
It’s not gonna get me back, oh oh, no no

It’s over
Oh oh it’s all over
And it’s been a long time coming
Some say it’s too long, oh oh
They warned me
Yes they all warned me
They told me, now don’t lose your head to her
She’ll never give it back, no no, no no

I don’t wanna know (what she said)
No I don’t wanna know (what she said)
She can cry all she wants
She’s not gonna get me back, no no
I don’t wanna know (what she said)
No I don’t wanna know (what she said)
She can try all she wants
She’s not gonna bring me back, no no…

(Collins)

One more night, one more night
I’ve been trying ooh so long to let you know
Let you know how I feel
And if I stumble if I fall, just help me back
So I can make you see

Please give me one more night, give me one more night
One more night cos I can’t wait forever
Give me just one more night, oh just one more night
Oh one more night cos I can’t wait forever

I’ve been sitting here so long
Wasting time, just staring at the phone
And I was wondering should I call you
Then I thought maybe you’re not alone

Please give me one more night, give me just one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can’t wait forever
Please give me one more night, ooh just one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can’t wait forever
Give me one more night, give me just one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can’t wait forever

Like a river to the sea
I will always be with you
And if you sail away
I will follow you

Give me one more night, give me just one more night
Oh one more night, cos I can’t wait forever
I know there’ll never be a time you’ll ever feel the same
And I know it’s only words
But if you change your mind you know that I’ll be here
And maybe we both can learn

Give me just one more night, give me just one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can’t wait forever
Give me just one more night, give me just one more night
Ooh one more night, cos I can’t wait forever

(Collins)

They came at night leaving fear behind
Shadows were on the ground
Nobody knew where to find him
No evidence was found
“I’m never coming back”
They heard him cry
And I believe him
Well he never meant to do anything wrong
It’s gonna get worse if he waits too long

Billy, Billy don’t you lose my number
Cos you’re not anywhere
That I can find you
Oh now Billy, Billy don’t you lose my number
Cos you’re not anywhere that I can find you, oh no

Searching through the day and into the night
They wouldn’t stop till they found him
They didn’t know him and they didn’t understand
They never asked him why
“Get out of my way”
They heard him shout
Then a blinding light
Ooh all I could see was him running down the street
Out of the shadows and into the night

Now Billy, Billy don’t you lose my number
Cos you’re not anywhere
That I can find you, oh
Now Billy, Billy don’t you lose my number
Cos you’re not anywhere that I can find you, oh

Don’t give up
Keep running, keep hiding
Don’t give up
Billy, if you know you’re right
Don’t give up
You know that I am on your side
Don’t give up
Oh Billy, you better, you better, you better run for your life

Now Billy, Billy don’t you lose my number
Cos you’re not anywhere
That I can find you, oh
Now Billy, Billy don’t you lose my number
Cos you’re not anywhere that I can find you, oh

They came at night leaving fear behind
Shadows were on the ground
Nobody knew where to find him
No evidence was found
“I’m never coming back”
They heard him cry
And I believe him
He never meant to do anything wrong
It’s gonna get worse if he waits too long

Now Billy, Billy don’t you lose my number
Cos you’re not anywhere
That I can find you, oh
Now Billy, Billy don’t you lose my number
Cos you’re not anywhere that I can find you, oh

I know she says she wants me
I hear it every day
And I know she know it keeps me
Well there ain’t no other way
But she’s got a heart must be made of stone
Cos when I tell her that she’ll miss me when I’m gone

She says
Who said I would
She knows it ain’t easy for a simple boy like me
She fills me full of loving
Oh then she sets me free
But she’s got a heart must be made of stone
Cos when I tell her that she’ll miss me when I’m gone

She says
Who said I would, tell me, who said I would
Who said I would, who said I would

I’m not the only one but I do fine
I suit her purpose and I’m just her kind
I don’t own her and I never could
Don’t think I do, don’t think I should

Tell me
Who said I would, who said I would

But she’s got a heart must be made of stone
And when I tell her that she’ll miss me when I’m gone

You’re not the only one but you do fine
You suit my purpose and you’re just my kind
You don’t own me and you never could
Don’t think you do, don’t think you should

Who said I would (who said I would)
Now she knows when she calls me
I’ll come running every time
And she knows she gets me hot
But she don’t know it’s her body never mine

And she’s got a heart must be made of stone
Cos when I tell her that she’ll miss me when I’m gone
She says
Who said I would, tell me, who said I would
Who said I would, who said I would

(Collins/Stuermer)

You keep on walking so you don’t fall down
It’s the same old story
You keep on hiding so you can’t be found
It’s the same old story
Oh but I know you, you’re the one who ran
You know why, it’s because you can, oh
It’s alright, cos I don’t mind
I’m just trying to help, but I wonder why
Doesn’t anybody stay together anymore
I wonder why, doesn’t anybody stay together anymore

My friends keep falling and they can’t get up
It’s the same old story
Well one says white and the other one black
It’s the same old story
And I don’t know why you keep emotions walled up
Your heart’s on your sleeve, but your sleeve is rolled up
But it’s alright, cos I don’t mind
I’m just trying to help, but I wonder why
Doesn’t anybody stay together anymore
I wonder why, doesn’t anybody stay together anymore

Things can change, from a misunderstanding
Nobody talks, nobody hears, oh oh oh
Makes me wonder why, doesn’t anybody stay together anymore
Oh I wonder why, doesn’t anybody stay together anymore

You keep on looking for that higher ground
It’s the same old story
Your glass is empty and the chips are down
It’s the same old story
But I don’t know why, your emotions walled up
Your heart’s on your sleeve, but your sleeve is rolled up
But it’s alright, cos I don’t mind
I’m just trying to help, but I wonder why

Doesn’t anybody stay together anymore
I wonder why, doesn’t anybody stay together anymore
Oh I wonder why, doesn’t anybody stay together anymore

(Collins)

Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out

Now everybody keeps on telling me how to be
And everybody tells me do what they say
Oh I’ll help myself it’s up to me and no-one else
But till I’m ready just keep out of my way

Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out

Now everybody’s got me running round, up and down
And here I am going out of my mind
But I won’t lose sight of all the, the things I’m looking for
They’re coming to me and I’m taking what’s mine

Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out

I’ll play the game
We’ll make the same mistakes
It’s all the same
If we can give and take
Hold on, hold on, ooh
Hold on, hold on, ooh

Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out

All of my life I’ve been searching and hanging on
Turning a corner, never know what I’d find
But now I’m back again like I never went away
Ooh let me in I’m through with wasting my time

Inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out
Oh inside out, ooh you got me inside out
Oh inside out, oh inside out

(Collins)

Take that look of worry
I’m an ordinary man
They don’t tell me nothing
So I find out what I can
There’s a fire that’s been burning
Right outside my door
I can’t see but I feel it
And it helps to keep me warm
So I, I don’t mind
No I, I don’t mind

Seems so long I’ve been waiting
Still don’t know what for
There’s no point escaping
I don’t worry anymore
I can’t come out to find you
I don’t like to go outside
They can’t turn off my feelings
Like they’re turning off a light
But I, I don’t mind
No I, I don’t mind
Oh I, I don’t mind
No I, I don’t mind

So take, take me home
Cos I don’t remember
Take, take me home
Cos I don’t remember
Take, take me home
Cos I don’t remember
Take, take me home, oh lord
Cos I’ve been a prisoner all my life
And I can say to you

Take that look of worry, mine’s an ordinary life
Working when it’s daylight
And sleeping when it’s night
I’ve got no far horizons
I don’t wish upon a star
They don’t think that I listen
Oh but I know who they are
And I, I don’t mind
No I, I don’t mind
Oh I, I don’t mind
No I, I don’t mind

So take, take me home
Cos I don’t remember
Take, take me home
Cos I don’t remember
Take, take me home
Cos I don’t remember
Take, take me home, oh lord
Well I’ve been a prisoner all my life
And I can say to you

But I don’t remember
Take, take me home…

We said goodbye to a dear old friend
And we packed our bags and left feeling sad
It’s the only way
We said hello as we turned the key
A new roof over our heads
Gave a smile
It’s the only way
Only way

Turn your head
And don’t look back
Set your sails for a new horizon
Don’t turn around don’t look down
Oh there’s life across the tracks
And you know it’s really not surprising
It gets better when you get there oh

Well it really don’t matter much where you are
Cos home is in your heart
It’s a feeling that you wake with one day
Some people key p running all their life
And still find they haven’t gone too far
They don’t see it’s the feeling inside – the feeling inside oh

Turn your head and don’t look back
Just set your sails for a new horizon
Don’t turn around don’t look down
Oh there’s life across the tracks
And you know it’s really not surprising
It gets better when you get there

We said hello as we turned the key
A new roof over our heads
Gave a smile – it’s the only way

There’s a light on the sea
And it’s shining for me
‘Cos I’m going away on the ocean
Sailor boy, they just said,
Grabbed me out of my bed,
Now my head’s getting giddy with motion.

Don’t you worry, Sweetheart,
I won’t be gone long
I’ll be coming home soon –
I promise.
I will carry your love
Deep inside of me –
When the night time comes
I’ll be yours.

There’s a light on the road
As the train pulls it’s load,
Infant soldiers so keen to get at them.
Mama, send me some socks,
‘Cos the rats got the lot
But we’re still singing in two feet of water

Don’t you worry, Sweetheart,
I won’t be gone long
I’ll be coming home soon –
I promise.
I will carry your love
Deep inside of me –
When the night time comes
I’ll be yours.

There’s a light in the sky,
So, at last, it’s goodbye
As we gather our masks at the station.
Pull the throttle out, Jim,
What a beautiful whim,
Now it could be a lengthy vacation.

Don’t you worry, Sweetheart,
I won’t be gone long
I’ll be coming home soon –
I promise.
I will carry your love
Deep inside of me –
When the night time comes
I’ll be yours.

Stone mirror mountain rises from a low stream
The scent of flowers like an ocean of weeds
I take a boat formed like a long handled sword
The Heavens are vast and the sea is broad
What’s my name…
We find the great cave of burning clouds
The water horses come flickering down
A gap in consciousness, a picture takes shape
I hear a thundering
A tidal wave breaks
What’s my name…

Wheelchairs and early night
Maltilda Smith-Williams Home For The Aged
And if you smuggle in
Another drop of gin
We’ll take your hearing aid
They never hear what you say
Maltilda Smith-Williams Home For The Aged
A second childhood
But only if you’re good
I hear Maltilda passed away
Her spirit’s still with us today
She watches over us
And those who make a fuss
You’ve never had it so good
They’d run away if they could

Let me count the ways I love you babe
You don’t know what you do
I’m a mess without your love baby blue
You were the only one I ever loved
You know I owe you every time
You were the first one to believe in me
And that’s before I had a dime
I’m a mess without your love baby blue
As I walk by along the waterfront
With all my clothes soaked wet through
Let me count the ways I love you babe
You don’t know what you do
I’m a mess without your love baby blue

An honourable man picks a slender orchid
And crushed it between his hands
The sacred knife of a Samurai
Serves up Sushi in a sandwich bar
A doll that’s made in Japan
Is made for every man
A doll that’s made in Japan
Is made for every man
Tigerlily with eyes of jade
Takes you to a carnival of toy balloons
See a kite floating by with the face of a Chinese mandarin
It’s such a different world it’s hard to remember
Which land you’re in
I seem to recall a milk white hand
Painted with blood red fingernails
A doll that’s made in Japan
Is made for every man
A doll that’s made in Japan
Is made for every man
A tiny girl with empty hands
Walks the streets of Tokyo
A doll that’s made in Japan
Is made for every man
A doll that’s made in Japan
Is made for every man
As you fly through a city of empty souls
You feel that the wind is whispering

There’s a ten ton truck
Coming down the road
No matter how fast I drive
No matter where I go
Don’t turn back
It keeps coming near
Don’t turn back
Don’t let it come near
Just when you think you’re safe
And you’re in control
You see an open road
Not another soul
Don’t turn back
It keeps coming near
Don’t turn back
It keeps coming near
Can’t stop shaking and your blood runs cold
Fuel injection that runs way too slow
Will this killer win and run you off the road
Don’t turn back
It keeps coming near
Don’t turn back
It keeps coming near

I can’t see, I can’t sleep
I can’t swim, I can’t talk
Can’t write, I can’t count
I can’t fly, can’t play today
Take your things and run away
Grab yourself a holiday
Fix your nose and change your name
Thyroid eyes they diagnose
Myopia…
A red light, stomach ache
Relax but don’t be late
It’s too loud I’ve disappeared
I can’t drink, I can’t tell the time
Epic hero Gilgamesh
Battling with a lioness
One man war against the odds
Spectacles that break because
Myopia…
I don’t think I can afford ya
You make me ugly anyhow
I think I see a car before me
Or maybe I’ve just hit a cow
I don’t think I can afford ya
You make me ugly anyhow
I think I see a car before me
Or maybe I’ve just hit a cow
Myopia…

Another night I’ve drunk my fill
Perhaps it’s time to dim the light
And while the hours the sandman comes
Stumbling round like a bowery bum
Maybe I’ll dream an Egyptian scene
Taking the easy way out
Taking the easy way out again
Maybe we’ll meet in paradise
Where far beyond the shores of trust
A boat on sea can travel the land
We set sail for a castle of sand
The desert wind
Can darken your skin
Taking the easy way out
Taking the easy way out again
Taking the easy way out
I’m taking the easy way out again

Oh it’s so hard
To be up before dawn
You know it’s so hard
To be up before dawn
A few seconds’ breath
A last cigarette
Execution fever
In a war torn land

Maybe it’s the will of the Lord
Or the mind of a man

There’s been heavy fighting
In the Gulf of Iran
Pour away your whiskey
Or meet the kiss of the lash
Cover up your women
Like it says in the Koran

Well maybe it’s the will of the Lord
Or the mind of a man

Maybe it’s the will of the Lord
Or the mind of a man

Maybe it’s the will of the Lord
Or the mind of a man

Football Saturday
And our team has won
Looking for a fight
Now the game has just begun

All around our favoured nation
Some beat to a different drum
Carry kives and carry grudges
Drawing blood just for fun

If you stare at me
You will pay the price
Like the master race
We believe that might is right

It’s war from the way I see it
Starting with the place you’re born
Somewhere there’s a light in the distance
Run for cover and keep me warm

Someday soon I’ll taste sweet freedom
With a woman like you
I know that I can change
With a woman like you
I know that I can change

Kick to the left
And you kick to the right
Run round the bend
Till you’re clean out of sight

From gaol it’s hard a climb upwards
There were others worse than me
I dreamt that an angel told me
Only love can set you free

Someday soon I’ll taste sweet freedom
With a woman like you
I know that I can change
With a woman like you
I know that I can change

With a woman like you
I know that I can change
With a woman like you
I know that I can change

High, dreaming on the seventh floor
I always need a little bit more distraction
I don’t want to work, I’d rather be in the sun
Cos they’re all out there…watch out…see those
Golden bodies passing my way
Golden bodies now summer’s here to stay
So tell me, what you gonna do tonight
Is there some place we can find
Dancing on the beach by moonlight
Til morning
Here under a banana tree
Sitting with my daiquiri rum beside me
It’s clear I’m never gonna give up this life of ease
Cos it’s alright…hold tight…see those
Golden bodies passing my way
Golden bodies now summer’s here to stay
So tell me, what you gonna do tonight
Is there some place we can find
Dancing on the beach by moonlight
Til morning

They saw the flags, it didn’t look so bad
they heard the news and how we could not lose
And they sang with the marching band
The sailors’ wives with anxious eyes
But it impressed them too
They even cheered up as the ships pulled clear
And though it was no-one’s fault
That men went off to war
I saw a thousand faces all along the shore…
The women were watching
So no-one thought of turning back
He didn’t fight for his country’s pride
His life was sold cos it was better than the dole
He even waved as they sent him away
But something’s changed – no this is not a game
She held his hand and it was cold and damp
She couldn’t hide from the feelings inside
Cos in the storm the night before
She heard him calling… goodbye goodbye goodbye
Won’t you give me a smile
I could be gone for a long long while
And though it was no-one’s fault
That he had to go to war
Among a thousand faces all along the shore
A woman was watching
He never thought of turning back

The girl in the gallery,
The way she moves her hair,
Footsteps in the Autumn leaves,
Turning and finding no-one there
Traces of you in the morning light
Traces of you in the night
You’re haunting me still
I don’t even have to try
I always find those…
Traces of you all around my life
Traces of you like a Knife
Twisting inside my heart
You’re tearing my world apart
Don’t torture me
The ring of the telephone
The quizzical hello
The glass in my hand shaking
Lying shattered in the snow
I saw a face in a picture show
Those Alborado eyes calling me
I see trees, I see indigo
I can’t keep up this disguise

Somewhere between the shades of grey
Where the sky meets the ocean
Invisible steel kissed the waves
Here it comes through the rain
Watching alone for birds of prey
Flying high out of the sunset
The picket patrol scans and waits
For a sign overhead
Cutting the spray she pitched and rolled
Unaware that she was chosen
Minutes away, the devil’s own
Had her marked from the rest
Here silicon heart hummed below
Careful eyes checked the readings
Deep in the dark, machines aglow
But nothing showed on the screens
Somewhere between the shades of grey
Where the sky meets the ocean
Invisible steel kissed the waves
Here it comes through the rain

What a situation
I want to take you beside the sea
But I’ve got no transportation
No tyres on the bike and the car’s got a leak
I had an inspiration
Something’s climbing above the trees
It’s silent aviation
No bottlenecks on the A23
Me oh my, watch me fly, through the sky, higher and higher
Eagle eye, one mile high, watch us fly
Love in a hot air balloon
Feelings of elation
Floating around in the atmosphere
It’s pure intoxication
Moet Chandon et personne conduire
Losing elevation
The sands have run out and we’re going down
She stubbed her cigarette out
And now we’re on course for the Eiffel Tower
Me oh my, watch me fly, through the sky, higher and higher
Eagle eye, one mile high, watch us fly
Love in a hot air balloon

Going for broke
There’s nothing around here to make me stay
Going for broke
Who’d be a loser and play it safe?
Roll the dice – spin the wheel
I’m gonna take a chance tonight
I’m gonna make a deal
Going for broke
This is the moment to shoot the moon
Going for broke
I haven’t got the time to waste on you
Roll the dice – spin the wheel
I’m gonna take a chance tonight
I’m gonna make a deal
Nothing to lose
Making my move
Nobody’s gonna use me
Going for broke
There’s something here inside me that won’t lie down
Going for broke
There’s nothing to tie me to this man’s town
Going for broke
One of these days you’re gonna see my face
Going for broke
One of these days you’re gonna know my name

All alone at the station
Oh, how I needed a drink
And as I stared at the table
I was starting to think
I must have fallen for love again
You’ve got me counting the days
Till you come back
I’m wondering if you have changed
In the night when I hold you
Will you whisper my name?
Will you sigh like you used to?
Will it ever be the same?

29 in Highgate, P.R. Queen
So socially unattainable
Down the line in Balham Johnny’s keen
Pursuing the unobtainable
I said Hey, you, up in the clouds
She’s spinning you like a circus wheel.

By moonlight, scheming all his moves
Detectives at her heels

Sally, what’s your game?
What are you trying to do?
Sally, I’m miles away
I can’t take my eyes off you.

Tea with Princes, dinner with the stars
She’s cool amongst High Society
Johnny takes her to a wimpy bar
And acts with perfect sobriety
I said Hey, you, up in the clouds
She’s spinning you like a circus wheel.

Call the Airforce, call the C.I.A.
She won’t escape this time

Sally, what’s your game?
What are you trying to do?
Sally, I’m miles away
I can’t take my eyes off you.

Taking off for ten weeks on the Nile
The Nights will be rich with mystery
Johnny’s swimming with the crocodiles
But he’s gonna teach her some history
I said Hey, you, up in the clouds
She’s spinning you like a circus wheel.

He’s in the gym, he’s on the driving range
It’s make or break this time.

Sally, what’s your game?
What are you trying to do?
Sally, I’m miles away
I can’t take my eyes off you.

Cold streets, everyone’s inside
There’s just me driving through the night
I want your heart, I need your love
I wanted you from the very start
Storm winds swirling in the snow
The last bridge to carry me back home
I want your heart, I need your love
I wanted you from the very start
Nothing matters anymore
I’ve acted like a fool
Cos every time I find a door
It always leads me back to you
I never could resist the smile
Dancing in your eyes
Each town passes in a haze
I’m free now and i can hardly wait
Long roads coming to an end
I’m so close to holding you again

Contenu Well here she comes through the trees
In her saffron robes and dangling beads
She’s a special child, touching the Holy Sea
Where white no longer is pure
And red, the colour of the cure.

In San Francisco she lights a flame
And in Brazilian bars they chant his name
She’s a special child who’s playing the God-find game
Where white no longer is pure
And red the colour of the cure
They’re taking your name away.

I don’t want your guru
I don’t need your paradise
I love you for what you are
Perfection’s not mine

No more family, no more friends
No expectations now, no bitter ends
For she’s a special child, with a castle she must defend
Where white no longer is pure
And red the colour of the cure
They’re taking your name away.

I don’t want your guru
I don’t need your paradise
I love you for what you are
Perfection’s not mine

Well, it’s over now, I think I know
We tried to work it out, someone let go
I’ve got a special place, your bridge to the outside world
Where white no longer is pure
And red the colour of the cure
They’re taking your name away.

I don’t want your guru
I don’t need your paradise
I love you for what you are
Perfection’s not mine’accordéon

Contenu d’accordéon

Dust drew down the desert night
Stallions kick and moan.
All along the ridge the stormy light
Assailing the fortresses of stone
Father Eli took his watch
His keen eyes fixed right into the sky.
Daybreak found his chair was rocking still
No message could anyone find

Yena had a secret dream,
To touch the stuccoed stars.
From the deep of snow-enchanted woods,
He called them from afar
Hunters by the Deadman’s Spit
All struck dumb, the forest crowned in flame
The dragon rose into the burning air
Then everything lay still again – and so it’s

Oh, my time has come,
I never hoped for something quite like this

Shadows in the creeping mist
The dark beams circled close,
Baronesses played a hand of whist
Unseeing, the monolithic host
Meters racing, dials jammed,
The heat sears, the metals twists and tears
They’re all out on Pan Am 109
The giants melted into thin air…oh hear me

Oh, my time has come,
I never hoped for something quite like this.
Oh, I wait in the night

I’d packed my bags by ten past six
Subscriptions paid and sent
Through the fields to the landing strip
I’ll always wonder what you meant
Diamonds dancing, mountains shake
Wind bellows, the valley struck with gold,
With my photo of the Prince of Wales,
I might not get back till you’re old – and hear it

Oh, my time has come,
I never hoped for something quite like this.

Sunday morning
There’s a cold wind
Down by the Tatterdoo
Rocks are scarred with blue
No one saw her
Like a seabird
Fly high the crested waves
Saw her fall from grace

Facing the storm alone
Losing your way home
Can you hear me?
There’s a cruel sea
God knows how hard we tried
Save us from this night

Attention !

Mon morceau préféré est This is love.

Here am I, lost in a world behind me,
All alone, just like before you found me.
Now I stare out on the traffic in the city,
Even in the dark,
And the rain falls on my window sill.
This is love, girl, call it what you will,
This is love.

As I sit, thoughts of the past surround me,
All around, like the sound of the wind in Winter,
Now I walk among the buildings of the city,
Always in the dark,
And the rain falls, spray from passing wheels,
This is love, girl, call it what you will,
This is love.

Do what you want, do what you want, you’ve got to,
Be what you want, be what you want, you’ve got to…

Before, my life was a waste without you,
What do I do now that I’m gonna lose you?
But you’re gonna do exactly what you want to,
Finish my world if I don’t get to hold you again.

Now I walk among the buildings of the city,
Always in the dark,
And the rain falls, spray from passing wheels,
This is love, girl, call it what you will,
This is love.

And if ever you want me again, I will be there,
If your world seems to need me again, I will be there,
Now I stare out on the traffic in the city,
Even in the dark,
And the rain falls on my window sill,
This is love, girl, call it what you will,
This is love, girl, call it what you will,
Oh this is love.

In shadowy holes, the light disappears,
Evening is with us now,
And all around begins the movement,
The many creatures of the night prepare.

Undisturbed by the sound, with noiseless tread,
A figure comes into view,
A trail of magic runs behind him,
The Man of Spells has come to visit you,
He knows how much you really want him,
He knows just what you all want him to do.

Drawn back cloak revealing,
Wraith-like form concealing,
Half-seen eyes unseeing,
Half-heard words beseeching,
Help me as I helped you,
Help me now I need you.

The enchantment is gone, the ghost disappears,
Leaving just a tired old man,
In restless dreams we might have changed him,
But a wanderer’s all he’ll ever be.
With shuffling feet he turns and is gone,
Back to his open home,
A trail of ashes runs behind him,
The man of magic has retired tonight,
He knows how much you really want him,
He knows just what you wanted him to do.
He knows how much you really want him,
He knows just what you wanted him to do…

And the wheels keep turning, all the time,
But there’s no pounding or purring, not a sound,
Just a feeling of stirring, hold them down, hold them down, hold them
down.

Yes it might happen this way,
You have no warning, she is going away,
She was the backbone, to your life and your plans,
And now the unknown, holds you down with its hands,
And then you know that there’s no turning back from here.

And the wheels keep turning, all the time,
No mechanical churning, not a sound,
Just a feeling of stirring, hold them down, hold them down, hold them
down.

Yes it might happen this way,
She is familiar, nothing much more to say,
And then the day comes when you look in her eyes,
And what you see there takes you quite by surprise,
And then you know that there’s no turning back from here.

People moving, going about their day,
People planning, knowing just what to say,
In one year we’ll have money to spare,
And in five all we require,
In ten years we’ll have a place of our own,
And in forty we’ll retire,
So we do what we must, before we turn to dust.
So we do what we must, before we turn to dust.

And the wheels keep turning, all the time,
No expansion or burning, not a sound,
Just a feeling of stirring, hold them down, hold them down, hold them
down.

Yes it might happen this way,
You have no warning, she is going away,
She was the backbone, to your live and your plans,
And now the unknown, holds you down with its hands,

And then you know that it might happen this way,
She is familiar, nothing much more to say,
And then the day comes when you look in her eyes,
And what you see there takes you quite by surprise,
And then you know that there’s no turning back from here.

On a cold clear night in November,
All the people have gone to bed.
We found ourselves upon a cliff edge,
Looking out to sea.
Then a sight in the pale moonlight,
Made us shake our heads in dismay,
A wave taller than the tallest tree
Bore down on she and me.
All the hopes and dreams we had
Dissolved amidst the fear,
What I’d be… without you now,
Only the stars could ever tell.

From the window of our hotel room,
We look out on the city below,
Driven lights move randomly,
The never ending show,
And when the bells start ringing,
We have fifty floors to go,
What I’d be… without you now,
Only the stars could ever tell.

Say you’ll never leave me, never leave me alone.
Say you’ll never leave me, never leave me alone.

On a lake, we cling to the rail,
On the back of a sailing boat,
A mist falls around us,
Now becalmed we float,
Then from behind comes a warning sound,
We’re helplessly adrift,
Still, we see nothing,
And then we see the ship.

High above it dwarfs us,
There’s nowhere we can go.
What I’d be… without you now,
Only the stars could ever tell.

Say you’ll never leave me, never leave me alone,
Say you’ll never leave me, never leave me alone,
Say you’ll never leave me alone,
Say you’ll never leave me alone,
I’d be so lonely here without you,
So lonely here without you, my love,
So lost without your love.

As I step inside the street sound,
A growl of thunder turns my head round,
I see one face in the crowd,
Like a beacon in the rain,
I see your sunshine calling to me.

As the people rush on by you,
I will move myself aside you,
Link arms like policemen in a chain,
Keep ourselves inside the line,
I need you now like it needed to rain.

As the puddles form around us,
And the thunder noise surrounds us,
Now I can laugh amid the storm,
Like a child in the warm,
I feel your sunlight shining on me,
All around me, inside me.

Then high in the sky, a star appears to be winking,
A branch caught by the wind, its leaves beckon to me.
Stone still at my feet, its grey matches my thinking,
Well water so deep, its song calling me down, down, down…

Now in the street I stand deserted,
With the cold and wet returning,
I turn, rejoining the crowd,
Like a leave caught in the stream,
I need you now like it needed to rain.

I will meet you where the winds blow,
The thunder rolls to and the streams flow,
I will see your face in the crowd,
Like a beacon in the rain,
And see your sunshine calling to me.

I will meet you where the winds blow…

In fading starlight, creeping gloom,
At the edge of night,
I dream inside this half-lit room,
It’s gonna be alright,
And I will say, that I will stay with you
And be forever by your side,
No matter what before might lie
Or what we leave behind.

And now the sun shines through the trees,
In the morning light,
It seems so easy to believe.
It’s gonna be alright.
And I will say, that I will stay with you
And be forever by your side,
No matter what before might lie,
Or what we leave behind.

But if you’re thinking that you don’t feel that way,
I’ll leave you alone now, I’ll go away.
I promise, I’ll go now, no matter what I said,
But I’ll be waiting, right here for you
Until I lay my body down
And it will be forever nighttime,
If that’s the way it is, the way it has to be.

And now the stars come back to life,
At the edge of night.
Another day has slipped away,
It’s gonna be alright,
And I will say, that I will stay with you
And be forever by your side
No matter what before might lie,
But if you turn me down,
Then I’ll be waiting, right here for you,
Until I lay my body down,
And it will be forever nighttime,
If that’s the way it is, the way it has to be.

Into the night, but out of the dark,
To be cornered and yet to survive,
The jester performed, with his body he scorned,
With his voice he amused, and a little confused
His masters the King and Queen,
The laugh of the King was clear and strong,
So out of fear the crowd laughed along,
And how I’d love to leave here,
Moving under…

Lost in space and with no hiding place,
And no chance of staying alive,
His men turn to him with confident eyes,
They’ve been in trouble before, but still they’re alive
They’re sure he’ll think of something,
But slowly their eyes take on looks that accuse
As they realize, he know they must lose,
And how I’d love to leave here,
Moving under…

Doesn’t anybody know that I am on the run?
How I’d love to leave here,
Always moving on,
Always moving on somewhere that doesn’t mean a thing,
How I’d love to leave here,
How I’d love to be there,
Always on the run,
Always searching for some place that I can be alone,
Doesn’t anybody know the reason why?
Doesn’t anybody know the reason why?

Into the night, but out of the dark,
To be cornered and yet to survive,
The Fugitive runs, though his hands are tied,
His legs are in irons but his head’s held high.
He knows how not to feel.

The time is right to move out of the night,
Into the light and stay out of sight,
How I’d love to leave there.
Moving under…

Doesn’t anybody know the reason why?
Doesn’t anybody know the reason why?

(Banks)

You and me, we got to go somewhere,
Somewhere where there’s air to breathe,
Even though we can’t see daylight,
Somehow we can feel the breeze, oh no,
Gonna be there someday – oh, gonna make it some way – oh.

Climbing cross the hills on pathways,
Where wiser men would fear to tread,
The air itself seems made from treacle,
Our shoes they feel they’re made from lead, oh no,
Gonna be there someday – oh, gonna make it some way – oh, oh.

I got to know how you feel,
Got to know who you are,
Got to know from where you come,
You and me got nowhere to go,
Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide,
Ways appear, then disappear forever, all around.

We wander down between the houses,
Then walk among the fields again,
If we always keep on moving
We know we’ll get there in the end, oh no,
Gonna be there someday – oh, gonna make it some way – oh, oh.

I’m gonna be there someday – oh, gonna make it some way – oh, oh.

(Banks)

Sometimes I have to ask myself,
How it is that we survive,
We know trains, boats, planes and cars
Will sometimes fail,
And if one don’t get you then the other one will,
And if the other don’t get you then another one surely will.

Inside, your heart must keep on going,
And so must all the other parts too.
Illnesses and poisons lie in wait,
And if one don’t get you the other one will,
And if the other don’t get you then another one surely will.

I’m not just talking ’bout the mountain climbers,
Jungle explorers or even hang gliders,
I’m not just talking about test pilots,
Steeplejacks, stuntmen or racing drivers.

Half the people in the world behave
Like they’d like to see the other half dead,
With guns and knives or perhaps just unconcern,
And if one don’t get you the other one will,
And if the other don’t get you then another one surely will.

I’m not just talking ’bout the mountain climbers,
Jungle explorers or even hang gliders.
I’m not just talking about test pilots,
Steeplejacks, stuntmen or racing drivers.
I’m not just talking ’bout lion tamers,
Human cannonballs or secret agents.
I’m not just talking about skydivers,
Trapeze artists or rodeo riders
I’m not just talking ’bout bounty hunters,
Astronauts, boxers or Billy Bunters…

I can’t see you mama
but I can hardly wait
ooh to touch and to feel you mama
oh I just can’t keep away
in the heat and the steam of the city
oh its got me running and I just can’t brake
so say you’ll help me mama
cos its getting so hard – oh

Now I can’t keep you mama
but I know you’re always there
you listen, you teach me mama
and I know inside you care
so get down, down here beside me
oh you ain’t going nowhere
no I won’t hurt you mama
but its getting so hard – oh

ha ha, ha ha ha ha, ha ha, argh
ha ha, ha ha ha ha, ha ha, argh

Can’t you see me here mama
mama mama mama please
can’t you feel my heart
can’t you feel my heart
can’t you feel my heart oh
now listen to me mama
mama mama
you’re taking away my last chance
don’t take it away
can’t you feel my heart?

ha ha, ha ha ha, ha, argh

It’s hot, too hot for me mama
but I can hardly wait
my eyes they’re burning mama
and I can feel my body shake
don’t stop, don’t stop me mama
oh make the pain, make it go away – hey
no I won’t hurt you mama
but its getting so hard – oh

Now I can’t see you mama
but I know you’re always there
you taunt, you tease me mama
but I never never can keep away
it’s the heat and the steam of the city
oh got me running and I just can’t brake
so stay don’t leave me mama
cos its getting so hard – oh

don’t go no no, don’t go
no no no, don’t go…

Just as I thought it was going alright
I find out I’m wrong, when I thought I was right
s’always the same, it’s just a shame, that’s all
I could say day, and you’d say night
tell it’s black when I know that it’s white
always the same, it’s just a shame, that’s all

I could leave but I won’t go
though my heart might tell me so
I can’t feel a thing from my head down to my toes
but why does it always seem to be
me looking at you, you looking at me
it’s always the same, it’s just a shame, that’s all

Turning me on, turning me off,
making me feel like I want too much
living with you’s just putting me through it all of the time
running around, staying out all night
taking it all instead of taking one bite
living with you’s just putting me through it all of the time

I could leave but I won’t go
well it’d be easier I know
I can’t feel a thing from my head down to my toes
why does it always seem to be
me looking at you, you looking at me
it’s always the same, it’s just a shame, that’s all

Truth is I love you
more than I wanted to
there’s no point in trying to pretend
there’s been no-one who
makes me feel like you do
say we’ll be together till the end

I could leave but I won’t go
it’d be easier I know
I can’t feel a thing from my head down to my toes
so why does it always seem to be
me looking at you, you looking at me
it’s always the same, it’s just a shame, that’s all

But I love you
more than I wanted to
there’s no point in trying to pretend
there’s been no-one who
makes me feel like you do
say we’ll be together till the end

But just as I thought it was going alright
I find out I’m wrong when I thought I was right
it’s always the same, it’s just a shame, that’s all
Well I could say day, and you’d say night
tell me it’s black when I know that it’s white
it’s always the same, it’s just a shame, that’s all

That’s all

Creeping up the blind side, shinning up the wall
stealing thru the dark of night
Climbing thru a window, stepping to the floor
checking to the left and the right
Picking up the pieces, putting them away
something doesn’t feel quite right

Help me someone, let me out of here
then out of the dark was suddenly heard
welcome to the Home by the Sea

Coming out the woodwork, thru the open door
pushing from above and below
shadows but no substance, in the shape of men
round and down and sideways they go
adrift without direction, eyes that hold despair
then as one they sign and they moan

Help us someone, let us out of here
living here so long undisturbed
dreaming of the time we were free
so many years ago
before the time when we first heard
welcome to the Home by the Sea

Sit down Sit down
Sit down Sit down Sit down
as we relive our lives in what we tell you

Images of sorrow, pictures of delight
things that go to make up a life
endless days of summer longer nights of gloom
waiting for the morning light
scenes of unimportance, photos in a frame
things that go to make up a life

Help us someone, let us out of here
cos living here so long undisturbed
dreaming of the time we were free
so many years ago
before the time when we first heard
welcome to the Home by the Sea

Sit down Sit down
Sit down Sit down Sit down Sit down
as we relive out lives in what we tell you
let us relive out lives in what we tell you

Sit down Sit down Sit down
cos you won’t get away
no with us you will stay
for the rest of your days – Sit down
As we relive our lives in what we tell you
Let us relive our lives in what we tell you

Got out of bed, wasn’t feeling too good
With my wallet and my passport, a new pair of shoes
The sun is shining so I head for the park,
With a bottle of Tequila, and a new pack of cigarettes

I got a cousin and she got a friend,
Who thought that her aunt knew a man who could help
At his apartment I knocked on the door,
He wouldn’t come out until he got paid.
Now don’t tell anybody what I wanna do
If they find out you know that they’ll never let me through, cos

It’s no fun being an illegal alien, no
It’s no fun being an illegal alien

Down at the office had to fill out the forms
A pink one, a red one, the colours you choose,
Up to the counter to see what they think
They said “it doesn’t count man, it ain’t written in ink”.
I don’t trust anybody, least not around here, cos

It’s no fun being an illegal alien, I tell ya
It’s no fun being an illegal alien, no no no no no
It’s no fun being an illegal alien, I mean it when I tell ya that
It’s no fun being an illegal alien,
An illegal alien, O.K.

Consideration for your fellow man
Would not hurt anybody, it sure fits in with my plan
Over the border, there lies the promised land
Where everything comes easy, you just hold out your hand

Keep your suspicions, I’ve seen that look before
But I ain’t done nothing wrong now, is that such a suprise
But I’ve got a sister who’d be willing to oblige
She will do anything now to help me get to the outside

So don’t tell anybody what I wanna do
If they find out you know that they’ll never let me through, because

It’s no fun being an illegal alien, I tell ya
It’s no fun being an illegal alien, and it’s getting me down
It’s no fun being an illegal alien, no no no no no
It’s no fun being an illegal alien, yeah yeah yeah

It’s no fun (not much fun) being an illegal alien, I tell ya that
It’s no fun being an illegal alien, I tell ya
It’s no fun being an illegal alien, no no no
It’s no fun (not bloody much fun) being an illegal alien,
It’s no fun being an illegal alien, and that’s what I am.

No not this confused again
No not the same mistakes again.
You’re taking it all to heart
You’re taking it all too hard

Why can’t you see what’s going on?
I know you’d never admit
You would ever be to blame
Everything’s a game to you
The old days are gone
And they’re better left alone
I cannot help you, it’s much too late

Oh no not this confused again
Oh no not the same mistakes again.
You’re taking it all to heart
You’re taking it all too hard

There’s always a reason why it happened
You never never did anything wrong, but it
It just seemed to fall apart
But you’re taking it all too hard

Now that it’s dark, all of your fears,
Like shadows creeping around.
You’re much too scared to look down
And it’s lonely out on your own

The old days are gone
And they’re better left alone
But I still miss you
I keep it to myself

Oh no not this confused again
Oh no not the same mistakes again
You’re taking it all to heart
You’re taking it all too hard

Oh no not this confused again
Oh no not the same mistake again
You’re taking it all to heart
You’re taking it all too hard
You’re taking it all to heart
You’re taking it all too hard

Oh no not this confused again
No no not the same mistakes again
You’re taking it all to heart
You’re taking it all too hard

Oh no not this confused again
Oh no not the same mistakes again
You’re taking it all to heart
You’re taking it all too hard

It’s no use saying that it’s alright, it’s alright.
But where were you after midnight, midnight.
Heard a Bang, Bang, Bang; Down they go
It’s just a job you do
Cos the harder they run, and the harder they fall.
I’m coming down hard on you.

Now no-one saw what you looked like, what you looked like
Like a stranger you came out of the night, out of the night
Cos someone put the word on you, and I hope my aim is true.

Cos I got a name, and I got a number, I gotta line on you
I got a name, and I got a number, I’m coming after you

Don’t keep saying that it’s alright, it’s alright,
It seems you went just a little too far this time
Heard a Bang Bang Bang, and down you go,
It’s just a job I do,
Cos the harder you run the harder you fall,
I’m coming down hard on you, hard on you – I hope my aim is true.

I got a name, and I got a number, I got a line on you
I got a name, and I got a number, and I’m coming after you

Keep running, Keep running; city to city
Even if you’re innocent,
You can cause too much embarrassment
And though your heart is breaking,
And you know there’s no mistaking.
Cos you feel your life line breaking (keep running, keep running)
You can feel your hands are shaking (keep running, keep running)
And no-one answers the telephone
You can never never ever go home alone
and though your heart is aching
and you know there’s no mistaking.
The footsteps close behind.

Now don’t pretend that you sleep at night, but sleep tight
And can’t you feel that the time is right, it’s alright.
Heard a Bang Bang Bang, and down you go
Oh no-one really cares
Cos the harder you run, and the harder you fall.
I’m coming down hard on you, hard on you – I’m hoping that my aim is
true.

I got a name, and I got a number, I got a line on you
I got a name, and I got a number, I’m coming after you

I got a name, and I got a number, I got a line on you
I got a name, and I got a number, I got a job to do.

Rivers flow uphill
blue turns into grey
winter follows springtime
morning ends the day
beyond the silver rainbow

if you’re walking home beside her
and you know what time it is
and if you avoid the puddles in your way
you haven’t been there either
to the land that lies
beyond the silver rainbow

but if you’re walking home beside her
and the sun should turn to blue
and you keep on going cos you’re unaware
ooh then you know that you are there

Beyond the silver rainbow (beyond the silver rainbow you won’t know)
you won’t know if you’re coming or going…

ooh if you’re sitting there beside her
with your arms you hold her close
and you’re wondering just how far she’ll let you go
you haven’t been there either
to the land that lies
beyond the silver rainbow

but if you’re sitting there beside her
and a bear comes in the room
and you keep on going cos you’re unaware
ooh then you know that you are there

Beyond the silver rainbow (beyond the silver rainbow you won’t know)
you won’t know if you’re coming or going…

(Banks/Collins/Rutherford)

Reach out, hands in the air,
Don’t care just what they’re saying
Hold out, just keep on hoping against hope
That it’s gonna get better
Don’t worry, there’s no hurry for you, for me,
Everything’s gonna come around
Shout out, someone will listen to you, to me,
Someone’s gonna see

He calls me over and, calls me brother and I know
always fighting and moonlighting and, well it never ends
in the city, if you’re all alone
there’s a sister and she’s standing next to her man
in the darkness you feel the sharpness of steel
and it’s always there, in the city, and you’re all alone

So reach out, hands in the air,
Don’t care just what they’re saying
Hold out, just keep on hoping against hope
That it’s gonna get better
Don’t worry, there’s not hurry for you, for me,
Everything’s gonna come around
Shout out, someone will listen to you, to me,
Someone’s gonna see…

If it’s gonna get better, it starts with a feeling
If it’s gonna get better, it’s gonna take time
If it’s gonna get better, we gotta start now
cos I know, everybody can feel it
and I know, everybody will see it
cos it shows, and that shows I’m not dreaming
cos you know, and I know, it’s time for a change

ha ha, ha ha ha ha, ha ha, argh

Ne me vois-tu pas maman
Maman maman maman, je t’en prie
Ne sens-tu pas mon cœur
Ne sens-tu pas mon cœur
Ne sens-tu pas mon cœur oh
maintenant, écoute moi maman
maman maman

Tu m’accables, tu me tourmentes maman

moi te regardant et toi me regardant.

Tu m’excites, tu me rebutes

moi te regardant et toi me regardant.

me fasse me sentir comme toi

moi te regardant et toi me regardant.

Assieds toi Assieds toi
Assieds toi Assieds toi Assieds toi

Assieds toi Assieds toi
Assieds toi Assieds toi Assieds toi

Assieds toi Assieds toi
Car tu n’iras nulle part

Je me suis levé, me sentais pas trop bien

Mais tu me manques toujours

Maintenant, personne n’a vu à quoi tu ressemblais, à quoi tu ressemblais

Tu peux causer trop d’embarras
