Song For A Friend

Seb

4/5

Très très chouette. De belles chansons, une ambiance calme et plutôt acoustique et une très chouette reprise de Pink Floyd.

Tracklist

Alone in a bar in a old part of town
Facing the house where Anne Frank Lived
Rain hitting of the window pane
And dancing in the street like children
Memories of war seem long gone
Something bout the atmosphere
Felt like I was in an old movie somewhere
And over on the shelf lay an old book

Looked like it had been there for ages
Stains on the pages
Parts all rewritten and some pages missing
The book had clearly been read
Many times before

Slipped it inside my man bag
Not really sure if he’d happened to see it
I tried to look away when the bar man looked at me

I guess he had seen that before
And simply ignored it
Laugh on the inside
As I tried to hide it
The book mark was worn at the edge
I guess this book had been read
Many times

Looked like it had been there for ages
Stains on the pages
Parts all rewritten and some pages missing
The book had clearly been read
Many times before

I don’t think about you much these days
It’s over twenty years now, since we went separate ways
I hope you’ve found some place to graze
And someone who’s a slave, to your every need
And over my dead body I’ll see you again
Pretending we were friends
Over my dead body, looking down on me
Pretending to grieve

All That time you knew it, something had to give
Struggling to live, facing up to it
You had your chance and blew it
You threw it away
And who would have thought it
You had the whole thing figured

And you living with regrets
Smoking cigarettes and staring into space
And asking where it all went wrong
And why am I alone
Saying God what have I done, so wrong

Too much, no forgiveness and all that monkey business
What is done is done
Over my dead body
You might think it funny

At the time you knew it, all the world’s a stage
And you were getting laid and calling everybody baby
You had your chance but screw it, you threw it away
And who would have thought it
You had the whole thing figured

All That time you knew it, something had to give
Struggling to live, facing up to it
You had your chance and blew it
You threw it away
And who would have thought it
You had the whole thing figured

So, here we are back at the atart
One angry and one slightly scarred
And one on the outside, asking why ?
Why? A good question, I don’t know
I hear it’s offfen, I Live in hope
That one day you’ll hear what I say

Cause when you’re down and out, there’s no one to help
You just have to sit there feeling sorry for yourself
And the rhyme and reason should be clear, but it ain’t
But in the cold day of light
You won’t see me

Fire, it always burns brightly at night
It’s burning inside you, that’s why
You cannot sleep
Or greet the day
And every day seems like the last one
And it ain’t too much fun
Can’t you learn
Learn to forgive and forget

Don’t you think it’s foolish to burn all of the bridges?
Don’t you have a better plan that’s based on forgiveness
I guess the weight you carry on your shoulder’s today
Will ease given time
Well that wish is mine

Don’t you think it’s foolish to burn all of the bridges?
Don’t you have a better plan that’s based on forgiveness
I guess the weight you carry on your shoulder’s today
Will ease given time
Well that wish is mine

If you look over there, that’s where I was born
And if you close you eyes and visualise,
you’ll see me kick a football down the road
I had a happy childhood, I always loved to dance
And all the boys would make a fool out of me
But the girls would take a chance
And it all feels like yesterday
It’s amazing how the time just drift away
I love sea air

If you look over there, that’s where my old ma worked
Every day at 5 am she’d get up
So that she could take care of us
There was never a day going by
Where we could not rely on our old mam
i can’t imagine life wothout her,
I can’t imagine now
She made everything perfect
She was just the best mam in the world
Don’t you love sea air

Oh oh, oh oh oh

If you look over there, that’s where i will die
I’ll take this old chair of mine and drive into the sea
And all the fishes they will laugh at me
And seagulls they will snap at me
But I , aye, I will find my peace again
Oh I love the sea air
Oh oh, oh oh oh
Oh I love the sea air

Only the lonely, know how i feel today
Crying, I’m dying, deep down within my soul
Now when I look at me, just can’t see myself anymore
How long is too long
I’ll never know for sure

Lord there must be something
Must be something more than this
I don’t think that I can take it anymore
Oh no

Careful, it’s loaded
You’ll cause the crime of the century
And I will expose it
If you hang around and wait for me
Cause I’m just a man, no more or no less
And I tried my best but failed it seems
And only the lonely know how I feel today

Lord there must be something
Must be something more than this
I don’t think that I can take it anymore
Oh no

Is there no way out of this
This is no way to live
I fight everyone, I fight on my own
Fight for myself, I’m helpless

Lord there must be something
Must be something more than this
I don’t think that I can take it anymore
Oh no

Only the lonely, know how i feel today

If you find the will then I’ll find the way
Cause those things you need are never too far away
For some it’s too tough, for others it’s too late
I don’t want to see you making that mistake

You have your feet on solemn ground, but know that you’ll be fine
Cause I won’t let those demons get to you
I’ll help you when you’re low and lift you from the ground
And hold you really close until you calm down

Cause sometimes what you need is not so far away
Even if right now it doesn’t seem that way
So while you’re pacing up and down and talking to yourself
Do a little dance to see if that helps

It’s fun, to laugh, smile a little , it will pass
There’s no shame, to feel afraid
The fear will fade away, just like yesterday

And look at your own self, as someone who’s beyond help
I used to feel that same way
And don’t analyse the bad points and hear them though the loud noise
In your head

Oh oh oh, oh oh oh yeah

And while you’re pacing up and down and talking to yourself
Do a little dance to see if that helps

It’s fun, to laugh, smile a little , it will pass
And say no, to it all
And somehow you just take control

And look at your own self, as someone who’s beyond help
And alone
And don’t analyse the bad points
Remember that the good things
Only come to those, who fight to win the day

Ah ha, yeah yeah

A thousand years of silence is what i need
Let it be
Slipping, sliding, never really saying what you mean
just echoing

A picture paints a thousand words or more
You always paint a picture to ignore
The more you say, the more I think
Who on earth is listening to you
It isn’t me

Reeling, writhing
All of this bad timing, don’t you see
Let it be
Backseat driving
trying to ease my mind and get some peace
I’d give anything for this

You see the pained look on my face
The darkness round my eyes from stress and strain
I say again
Take a break to stop and think
Be hero or be heroine but please
Let it be

A picture paints a thousand words or more
You always paint a picture to ignore
The more you say, the more I think
Who on earth is listening to you
It isn’t me

It isn’t me

Trying to read the signs
Don’t you know your own mind
Just live each day to day
As you were
Do just as you please
Take some time to grieve

It’s a lie
I hope you see it is
There’s a line , they say you never cross it
They see you like
Parallel souls, that never seem to meet

You were made this way
Unique one and only
Shining like a light
In the mist

More than just a glow
omni parent, ever knowing
You broke the mold

Is that why, you olways fail to see it
There’s a line , they say you never cross it
You’re not alone
Parallel souls, that never seem to meet

Hey I
i know you know so don’t say that you don’t
Why aye, at first you said you see it now you don’t
Cries, will go unheard unless you save a life
Nothing will seem right
It’s a suprise to you\i see this

Parallel Souls that never seem to meet
Parallel Souls that never seem to meet
Parallel Souls that never seem to meet
Parallel Souls that

Li da di , li da day, li da di, yeah yeah

Am i little too young to be waiting up all night?
I should be out having fun and getting home before the sunrise
What you’d expect me to say , when this is how you behave
It happens time and time again
I’m not about to become just another one of your tried and failed

It might seem like I am telling you no
Sometime you gotta know which way the wind blows
Then brace yourself, for the storm

Li da di , li da day, li da di, yeah yeah
Ah ah ah
yeah yeah

Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah

Li da di , li da day, li da di, yeah yeah

You might think that I’m saying all this, it don’t mean anything
it’s just a shot across the bow
But from this moment on I’m not going to be a you tried and failed

Li da di , li da day, li da di, yeah yeah
Ah ah ah
yeah yeah

Ah ah ah
Ah ah ah

Beyond the horizon of the place we lived when we were young
In a world of magnets and miracles
Our thoughts strayed constantly and without boundary
The ringing of the division bell had begun

Along the Long Road and on down the Causeway
Do they still meet there by the Cut

There was a ragged band that followed in our footsteps
Running before times took our dreams away
Leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground
To a life consumed by slow decay

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
With friends surrounded
The nights of wonder

Looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us
To a glimpse of how green it was on the other side
Steps taken forwards but sleepwalking back again
Dragged by the force of some inner tide

At a higher altitude with flag unfurled
We reached the dizzy heights of that dreamed of world

Encumbered forever by desire and ambition
There’s a hunger still unsatisfied
Our weary eyes still stray to the horizon
Though down this road we’ve been so many times

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Forever and ever
