Alone in a bar in a old part of town 
Facing the house where Anne Frank Lived
Rain hitting of the window pane
And dancing in the street like children
Memories of war seem long gone
Something bout the atmosphere
Felt like I was in an old movie somewhere
And over on the shelf lay an old book

Looked like it had been there for ages
Stains on the pages
Parts all rewritten and some pages missing
The book had clearly been read
Many times before

Slipped it inside my man bag
Not really sure if he’d happened to see it
I tried to look away when the bar man looked at me

I guess he had seen that before
And simply ignored it
Laugh on the inside
As I tried to hide it
The book mark was worn at the edge
